Ice Ice Baby - Mike's Plane

This airplane belongs to Mike and his family, a very good pilot friend of Shon. One day while Shon was at Mike's visiting they decided to go flying, but after an hour or so of trying to "de-ice" the plane, they decided to go back to the house where it was warm and comfortable.

Walker Dedication Fly-in

The airplanes in this picture on the ramp area at the Russell Airport are just a few of the planes that flew in for the Walker Airforce Base dedication. Spooky is the name of the DC-3 Vietnam gun ship that flew missions in that war conflict. It is based in Topeka, Kansas. The little black, white, and aluminum with yellow trim airplane belongs to Bud of Great Bend, Kansas. This is only one of 3 "Parana" survanlance planes that were buillt and flew during the Vietnam era. This aiplane is extremely fast, 270 knots plus and Bud does an excellent job of making the plane do it's stuff. The red and white tower in the back is from the cold war ear in the late 40's and early 50's. It was used to spot Soviet aircraft that could have flown as deep in to the US as Kansas. A volunteer would, if spotted and aircraft, would call the Salina Airforce Post and file a report, which at that time, a plane would fly to investigate the reported aircraft.

Shon At The Table

Little brother Shon enjoys a hearty meal at big brother Shad's house near Halloween 2005. Shon has reported things are tight in Florida and meals are tough to come by, so he is loading up for the trip back to the land of the sun. Shad and Amy took very good care of Shon during his stay.
